Harmonizing Extended Producer Responsibility across the EU

EU-Project Circula-TEX

Circula-TEX is a four-year EU-funded innovation project aimed at transforming textile waste management in Europe through harmonized Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes, digital traceability and circular business models. Coordinated by RINA Consulting and co-funded under the Horizon Europe Pro-gramme, the initiative brings together 19 partners from 9 European countries – including industry leaders, research institutions and value chain actors such as TEXAID.

The project addresses fragmented regulatory frameworks and inconsistent textile collection and recycling systems across the EU. By developing evidence-based EPR criteria, piloting market-relevant case studies and implementing an advanced labelling system aligned with the Digital Product Passport, Circula-TEX is paving the way for a more sustainable and competitive European textile sector.

As a consortium partner, TEXAID contributes its expertise in textile collection, sorting and reuse, helping to bring in the textile waste management perspective and shape realistic and scalable circular practices with a focus on post-consumer textile waste.
